I bid you greetings from Career Services and the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Career Services and the College of Engineering and Computer Science are excited that you are here, we all look forward to a productive quarter. We are committed to servicing your academic and career needs.
This newsletter is a great way to provide interesting and useful information to Engineering students.
The Engineering E-News will include: Career opportunities for co-op and full-time opportunities, career events, Wright Search database information, and upcoming on-campus Campus Recruiting reminders. Hopefully, this will generate more participation in utilizing the office of Career Services.
Career Services can assist you with career development, résumé and business correspondence, research material, interviewing skills, and much more. In addition, future issues will contain other event sand noteworthy information.

Introduction

Career Services and the College of Engineering and Computer Science have collaborated to better serve engineering students. I look forward to meeting with you and assisting you with your career request. You may call the Career Services main desk (937) 775-2556 and schedule an appointment with me for a Mock interview techniques, résumé or vita assistance, researching jobs, co-op registration, tips of job search, and signing up to on our electronic database which is the Wright Search. The Wright Search is an electronic database, which allows you to sign up for on campus interviews, and search for co-op and full time placement. Stop by our office, E334 Student Union, so that you may view the orientation and then sign up to have full usage of the system.
New Requirement for All Co-op and Internship Students
As of Summer 2009, students must enroll in The Wright Search
For enhanced student service and recording of co-op and internship participation, Career Services now requires all students who plan to participate in co-op or internship programs to enroll in The Wright Search online database.
What does this mean?
Students planning to participate in a co-op or internship must complete The Wright Search orientation, submit the Student Agreement form, create a Profile inside The Wright Search, and upload a professional résumé. Viewing the orientation takes about 20 minutes.
You may complete your orientation and other steps in the Career Services Career Resource Center, E334 Student Union, during office hours 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Stop at the front desk and you will be given an instruction card.
Please read carefully the agreement form that you sign. After 24 hours you will be able to create your profile and post your résumé. Your account will not become active and you will not be registered for co-op or internship programs until your profile and résumé are completed in The Wright Search.
Instructions for The Wright Search Database
Follow the 4 steps to become a registered user. Registered users are Wright State University students and alumni ONLY.
1. Review The Wright Search Orientation
The orientation was designed to be viewed using Internet Explorer.
2. Download and complete The Wright Search Registration Agreement
3. Turn in completed Registration Agreement, with original signature, to
Career Services, E334 Student Union;
OR
Mail to:
Career Services, Wright State University, 3640 Colonel Glenn Highway, Dayton, OH 45435-0001.
Federal law requires Career Services to collect your signature prior to releasing your résumé to employers.
4. Allow 24 business hours after receipt in Career Services, for processing of the Registration Agreement.
Then create your Profile, including your login and password, and upload your résumé to The Wright Search.
Current Users:If you already enrolled in The Wright Search, remember to upload your résumé to the Wright Search every 30 days.
Your résumé becomes inactive and unavailable for employer viewing after 30 days. If your résumé becomes inactive, upload a current résumé and edit your Profile to "Allow Employer Viewing? Yes."
What to do when you get a co-op/internship position
First, complete the four required steps to enroll in The Wright Search! Then, to register your co-op or internship, e-mail me, Karen Fox, karen.fox@wright.edu, or stop by Career Services, E334 Student Union, to pick up a Co-op Acceptance form.
You will fill out the Co-op Acceptance form with complete information, and then fax, e-mail, or drop off the form at Career Services, E334 Student Union.

International Students
International students are asked to review Additional Information for International Students at http://career.wright.edu/student/coopandinternship/index.html
Your paperwork for co-op and internship, which is begun in Career Services, must be completed through UCIE by specific quarterly deadlines.

Calendar of Events
Deadlines Beginning in September: On Campus Interviewing for Fall quarter
In the Career Services On Campus Interviewing program, employers with jobs to fill come to the Career Services office and interview eligible students. To participate, you must be enrolled in The Wright Search and meet the eligibility requirements of the program and of the employer.
Instructions for utilizing Career Services On Campus Interviewing program are included in the orientation to The Wright Search. Returning to the online orientation is a great way to refresh your memory.
The first fall quarter On Campus Interviews are October 5, but deadlines for signing up are much earlier! Read The Wright Search dates and deadlines carefully so you do not miss important deadlines.

October 13: Etiquette Luncheon
Participants will be coached through the finer points of business dining, mingling, and networking. Presenters are Business Etiquette Trainers certified by DTN Productions.
Reservations and full payment required in advance, by deadline.
Etiquette Luncheon is a professional dress event.
Faculty, staff, departments, colleges and clubs may host tables and invite students to be their guests. Email charlene.walker@wright.edu.
November 6 through November 20: Career Services Post Graduation Plans Survey
Career Services is interested in your plans after graduation. We use information gathered about graduating student plans to enhance our services to students and alumni, and to identify potential employer partners. The information also provides a snapshot of outgoing Wright State students. The data collected is combined with other collected data and presented in aggregate format. We appreciate the participation of all students and offer a single prize drawing for eligible participants.
We announce the Post Graduation Plans Survey in a WINGS email targeted at graduating seniors. If you are graduating fall quarter, watch your wright.edu email inbox for details!
Co-op and Internship Program Information
Requirements
To be eligible to register for co-op recognition on the transcript, you must meet the following criteria:
- Completion or near completion of entry-level courses as outlined by the college
(see our web page for the departmental course requirements); - Must have a cumulative 2.5 Grade Point Average for undergraduates or 3.0 for graduate students;
- The position must relate directly to the student’s major;
- Declared course of study and acceptance into that program of studies.
Once you have been offered and accepted a co-op opportunity, please contact karen.fox@wright.edu or call 937-775-2556 to schedule an appointment to register your co-op. Your company name will be placed on your official transcript after completion of the co-op experience and your exit interview.
