Career ExplorationA student who has completed career exploration enters your classes with increased enthusiasm and heightened confidence. The student understands how classroom studies will advance their career. The student or alumni who says to you 'I don't know what I want to do when I graduate,' would benefit from career exploration. Career Services guides students through the process of self-assessment, occupational research, investigation into related majors, and career decision making. To accomplish these tasks on a quarterly timeline, undergraduate students may enroll in the popular and successful course, Others may choose to work on essential career exploration tasks at their own pace, through individual appointments. Career Services professionals often assign 'homework' in the Career Resource Center. Informational interviewing and job shadowing are important parts of career exploration. Through a collaborative effort with the Office of Alumni Relations, Career Services can provide to students the contact names and numbers of alumni professionals working in the student's interest area. |
