Student Employment Job Fair

Friday, August 22, 2008,
1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.,
Student Union Apollo Room.

Open to all Wright State University students.

Things to Bring and Do

Use this page as a practical checklist to assemble documents to bring to the fair. If you forget these documents, you will jeopardize your ability to be hired.

The Student Employment Application, Work Study Job Openings, Regular Job Openings, and List of Documents to Verify Identity are in Adobe® Portable Document Format (PDF) and can be accessed using Adobe® Acrobat Reader®. Download a free copy of Adobe® Acrobat Reader®.

_____Bring copies of your completed Student Employment Application.  Bring one copy for admission, and multiple copies, one for each employer with whom you plan to apply.  The Student Employment Application is specifically designed for use at Student Employment Job Fair, and is not intended for general Student Employment job application.

_____Print out job descriptions that interest you and bring them to the Job Fair.

The list of Job Fair Participating Employers and job openings will be available online in The Wright Search database, beginning August 18, 2008.

Instructions for Accessing Job Postings

_____Bring a printout of your WINGS Express accepted Federal Work Study Award to verify your Work Study award with prospective employers.

_____Bring acceptable documents with you to verify identity for hiring process.

Any time you are hired for a job in the United States, the employer must verify your identity and eligibility to work in the United States.  Some employers will hire on the day of the job fair.

Supervisors will need to verify identity and eligibility to work in the U.S. with acceptable documentation such as, but not limited to: a passport or Employment Authorization Document OR, a driver's license or Wright State ID AND original Social Security card.

Review U.S. Government I-9 and List for Verification

International students must also obtain a work authorization form from the University Center for International Education (UCIE), E190 Student Union.

Supervisors will instruct students to go to Student Employment in Career Services, E334 Student Union , to complete the processing for student employment. Students may begin work after the processing is completed.

_____Bring your checking account number and bank routing number along with a voided check, to set up direct deposit of your paycheck into the bank of your choice.

_____Bring a notepad in a portfolio or folder, for taking brief notes about job, the hiring timelines, and contact information for the supervisors.

_____Park in lot 4: see campus map.

_____Arrive early and check in at the Student Registration Table. Turn in one copy of your Student Employment Application as your admittance ticket. Pick up a map of the fair.

_____Collect business cards of all employers with whom you speak, to ensure you have accurate contact information for your thank you letter and interview follow up.
