Celebrate Your Student Employees During National Student Employment Week
April 13 through 19, 2008
Each year, the National Student Employment Association (NSEA) declares a week in April to
be National Student Employment Week. While student employment offers students career enhancing opportunities, they in turn make substantial contributions to the operation of the university. Career Services encourages hiring supervisors, their departments, and colleges or divisions to celebrate student employee contributions during National Student Employment Week.
Ideas for Celebrations
Here are a few ideas to recognize students:
- Take your student workers to lunch, provide pizza, or host a carry-in luncheon honoring your students;
- Post a sign in your department, "We Appreciate Our Student Workers;"
- Have your staff wear special badges that say "Student Workers are Great" or "We Appreciate our Student Staff;"
- Change your department phone message to recognize student employees;
- Honor your student workers with a round of applause at your department staff meeting;
- Design and present your student employees certificates of appreciation.

Nominate an Outstanding Student Employee for Student Employee of the Year
During National Student Employment Week, NSEA member institutions are invited to select a Student Employee of the
Year. The institutional winner then has the opportunity
to compete at the state, regional, and national levels.
If you have an outstanding student employee, please consider nominating that individual for the Student Employee of the Year award.
Nearly 2,000 students are employed through the Student Employment Program at Wright State University. These students make tremendous contributions to the university. Help us celebrate National Student Employment Week and express your appreciation for their hard work. The guidelines for Student Employee of the Year selection have been established by the National and Midwest Associations of Student Employment Administrators (NSEA/MASEA).
Employers must submit the Nomination Form and Nomination Letter by 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2008. A selection committee will review nominations and select a campus winner by Tuesday, February 26, 2008.

Tips for Writing the Nomination Letter
The selection committee can only make decisions based on the information you provide. For this reason, you should try to provide examples and evidence that demonstrate the above qualities. Point out specific projects or key accomplishments. State the reasons why this student employee stands out among the rest. Describe moments when the student went above and beyond the call of duty, or made a significant contribution to the department or university.
