Helping High School Students Prepare for a Career

High school students experience internal and external pressure to answer the question, 'What do you want to do when you grow up?'

In general, parents, teachers and friends who seek early answers to this query are likely to be frustrated by the number of times students subsequently change direction.

Personality type and preferences are still developing in adolescence, so expecting a high school student to make a definitive career choice is developmentally inappropriate.  Instead, key influencers best support high school students by encouraging them to explore interests, reflect on experiences, and build skills in expressed areas of interest.
