Career Mentoring

Career Mentoring is one of the opportunities available to you from the Alumni Partners program, a collaboration between Career Services and Alumni Relations.

Career Mentoring makes Wright State University alumni information available to Wright State University students and other alumni for the purposes of career exploration.

How You Can Be A Career Mentor

Alumni who volunteer to be Career Mentors create an online account in The Wright Search, in which they specify the method and level of contact they will accept from students. The preferences can be edited at any time by the account holder.

It is easy to get involved and easy to stay involved:

  • Sign up after graduation;
  • Allow limited or extensive access, as you choose;
  • Share your expertise and your experience with students and other alumni;
  • Manage your account online.

You set your user name and password the first time you enter The Wright Search. After verifying your alumni status, Career Services activates your account.

Students and other alumni who contact you may want to discuss majors, career fields, your day to day experiences, the organization where you work, job transition, economic conditions, relocation information, and networking opportunities.

You may offer email contact, telephone dialogue, advice, resource referrals, informational interviews, job shadowing, relocation support, or other opportunities. You choose the extent of the Career Mentor relationship.

How You Can Find a Mentor

If you are in the early stages of building your career, you may find it useful to consult a Career Mentor.

You must be a registered user of The Wright Search as a current or potential job candidate to view the Career Mentor list. It is not necessary to be in the process of a job search to register with The Wright Search.

While you will be required to post a professional résumé in your job candidate account, you may edit your profile so that the résumé is not available for employer viewing.
